Charlie's rich experience of working with singers, her extensive knowledge of the operatic and oratorio repertoire of all periods, and her fascination with the interaction of text and music, ensure that she is in constant demand as a vocal coach. She has worked closely with young artists at the National Opera Studio, the Young Artists at The Royal Opera House, the Royal Welsh College of Music and Mid Wales Opera where she curates a number of semi-staged concerts.

A graduate of the National Opera Studio Charlie has spent the last 12 years on the staff at Opera North, as well as being a visiting member of music staff at the major UK opera companies such as Glyndebourne, ENO, Grange Park Opera, Grange Festival, Garsington Festival, Longborough Festival, Opera Holland Park, Birmingham Opera Company, Buxton Festival, Aldeburgh Music, and the Royal Opera House. She is also in demand internationally and has enjoyed invitations to join the music staff at the Bregenzer Festival, Estonian National Opera and Bergen Opera.

She has presented Opera Gala concerts all round the world, introducing and interviewing artists at large events. She has delivered recital lectures at Nottingham University, York University, Leeds School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music. Her varied outreach work includes directing and devising workshops for Opera North, Aldeburgh Festival, Spitalfields Festival, Garsington Opera, Birmingham Opera Company, and The Royal Opera House.

She runs a coaching studio in Birmingham and London and is available for covid-compliant 1-1 and Zoom coachings.
